Cricinfo staff09-Mar-2009Canada’s proposed tour of Zimbabwe, which was part of their preparations for the ICC World Cup Qualifiers, has been scrapped after Cricket Canada backtracked on its request for a series of matches.Zimbabwe Cricket was approached in early February and agreed to host a series of matches in late March to help the Canadians acclimatise. It was intended to play at least four ODIs against a Zimbabwe A side.However, at a board meeting on February 21, Cricket Canada decided to cancel the trip, telling ZC that “there were some concerns about Canada being able to field a competitive side in Zimbabwe as well as taking into account the Canadian government’s health advisory for Zimbabwe at this time.”
