The Ivory Coast international starred for the Black Cats last season, helping them into the Championship play-offs. He returned to Old Trafford in the summer of 2023 determined to make his mark, but suffered an unfortunate pre-season injury.

Amad has been eased back into the fold, with United retaining full belief in his potential. It has been reported that the Red Devils will knock back any approaches during the winter window. That stance may be relaxed before February 1, with a number of suitors ready to swoop in.
GettyWHAT BEALE SAID ABOUT AMAD
Sunderland intend to head that queue, with manager Michael Beale telling when asked if Amad could return to the Stadium of Light: “We’ve made it really clear to them that we would be in there but Man United really value him as well. He could have an interesting second half of the season in-house but if he was to go out on loan, I can assure you, they are well aware we would want him to come back here. Putting finances aside – because that’s the big thing isn't it – I know he loved his time here, the fans loved him and he was well-loved in the changing room. When I came here, it was something that if it could happen, it would happen but I think Man United realise they have a very good football player on their hands.”
WHAT NEXT FOR AMAD?
Amad has taken in one appearance off the bench for United since returning to fitness – his first minutes for the Red Devils in two years – and Erik ten Hag’s side have only one more game to take in before the end of the month, away at Newport County in the FA Cup fourth round.
